Ocean waves

Ocean waves are created by winds and tidal forces.
This special water power can be used to generate electricity. To do this, the forces inherent in the waves are channelled into special machines that convert these forces into electrical energy.

Tides are periodic water movements in the ocean that mainly affect its coasts. There they lead to high and low tides. They are a consequence of the tidal forces of the moon and sun in conjunction with the earth's rotation.
In relation to the moon, one rotation of the earth takes just under 25 hours. During this time, there are two high tides and two low tides on most coasts. Due to the tilt of the Earth's axis, the two tides are different. - The tidal forces of the sun are about 46% of those of the moon. At full and new moon, the sun and moon together cause spring tides, at half moon weaker neap tides. Spring tides are stronger when the moon is close to the earth at this time. Due to the inclination of the moon's orbit, there is also an approximately annual variation in sea level.
